I usually organise an Egg Hunt for the children at my school. I am looking for something new and exciting! I have 8 classes of approximatly 30 children aged between 3 and 11 years. Help!

  1. make it a themed egg hunt. For example, they could all be pirates, or be searching for dinosuar eggs, and let them dress up and play the part. Have maps for them to follow, or leave clues to send them to the next egg.

  2. Exchange the egg for a grenade, this should liven things up.

  3. Just cuz it's boring to YOU is no reason to abandon a tradition. Do the egg hunt, the same as last year.

  4. The children in our foundation classes take part in egg rolling. They bring in a decorated egg from home, and roll it to see who's goes furthest. They seem to enjoy it!

  5. What about a treasure hunt?

Similar to the old TV program... have clues to the location of the eggs for each child / team of children.

You could have a chain of clues that eventually lead to a stash of eggs?

Probably an idea to have a small number of small eggs at the location of each clue to keep level of interest high.

  6. have an egg hunt but make it like an obstacle course like they have to climb over a mat to find the egg or make a treasure map with pictures as to where they can find the eggs etc.

  7. How about adding something to the egg hunt?  Like having the kids make their own eggs prior to egg hunt day?  Or carry the egg in a spoon game after the egg hunt?  Kids do look forward to the egg hunt--but like in our family--we also have one.

What about having the kids make egg baskets to bring to a senior center?  that would be a great experience.  Imagine the faces of the seniors to see such cute little kids!

  8. You could split them up into teams and do it around the village that the school is in, but you will need one adult to go with each group, maybe try and get parents involved or the local secondary school children.

  9. Well honestly it may seem to be the same ol'e thing to you but think about how much fun these kids have every year and they are not always the same kids.  Get face painter and hide "special" prizes.  Just because you think it may seem routine and boring to you but I bet they are having a blast!

  10. How about putting a new spin on it-instead of finding one each or as many as possible-they have cards with different eggs...different colours, patterns, numbers etc...then have to find one of each (can be small laminated card versions to save money on getting choc eggs). They collect them and when they have all the ones on their card they then go and collect there prize depending on how many they found.

    OR

How about turning it into treasure hunt with clues-each clue leads them to next place. Younger ones will need support so maybe they can start earlier.

    OR

Have a map and the children have to follow the map like pirates to find the eggs. They need to recognise the symbols on the map to find the eggs.

  11. I agree with freaking.  Please have the egg hunt!  For some children, this will be the only opportunity they would have for an egg hunt.

  12. Just do the same thing the kids and parents like the traditional stuff especially holidays

The kids and parents will say why ?! if you change the Egg Hunt

  13. Oh please don't change, we had an egg hunt every year and every child loved it. The children at the top end of the school were able to forget their 'image' for a little while and enjoy being silly for a while. Those at the lower end were beside themselves with excitement for a week before.

  14. let 5 of them be raw
