Federal Credit Union and paypal?

I just have a paypal account, and recently I got email from Paypal(?) -- "PayPal" <supportUsUpdate08@Pal.com>

Asking me to re-activate a Federal Credit Union? I never activated it even once. I might not have it after all. This is the message

"Dear Customer,

You have one new message at Pay-Pal,

INBOX

From: Customer Service

Date: 7/29/2008

Subject: Official service renewal notification.

In order to read the message click here to login at

Pay-Pal. and access your MAIL section"

I logged in paypal, but there's no mail section in it. Is this fraud? The mail was sent right only to my email and OTHER email I have.

  1. Look at the email host...it's not Paypal. It's a phishing scam. Dont EVER click links in emails...log into your account manually.

  2. NEVER click on the URL contained in an email. If you wanted to see if you had a new message at Paypal, you should have opened a new browser window and gone to Paypal.com to see if there were any messages waiting for you.

And LOOK at the address on this email you got! It's NOT from Paypal! It doesn't even SAY it's from Paypal.

YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED. When you clicked on that link and logged in to the place it sent you, the people who sent you that fake email were able to see and save your login name and password. They are probably at work RIGHT NOW emptying out your account.

TELL YOUR BANK IMMEDIATELY. Then tell Paypal.

  3. Hurry up and go change your paypal password. They can get your banking and credit card information so I'd alert them too.
