Federal Tax Installment Agreement?

I have an installment agreement to pay a certain amount on the first of every month. Usually I get a letter around the 15th - 20 th stating my last payment and a reminder of the next one. Last month a made my payment on July 25 a cpl days early for my August 1 payment , is this a problem for the agreement. Only serious answers plz

  1. Not a problem.  


  2. No problem.  IRS is expecting a payment for each payment reminder notice.  You can make it any time before the payment due date.  

  3. Making a payment a few days early is definitely not a problem.

  4. Should not be a problem as long as you included the tax year you are paying and included the payment installment voucher.


  5. Probably not. The computer is looking for a payment in August, so if one posts in July it could be construed as part of the July payment. If it arrives after the 1st, then it's late. This is why installment agreement payment dates should start around the 5th at the earliest. However, as long as you send the payment in with the reminder notice and use the enclosed envelope, you should be OK.

  6. no not a problem they should apply it to your august payment.  But when you send in early payments to anyone always include a note stating the month it is for.
