does anyone know about free government grants do you have to pay it back. and is there a catch to it. i need 4,000 dollars for a course i want to take in school.

If you are eligible for a federal grant, you do not need to pay it back...unless you withdraw from your classes, or fail them for not attending.  You can apply for grants at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
