Okay, my teacher is amazing, I have learned a lot from her, however, she's kind of controlling and hard-headed.
I am supposed to be in level Very Difficult I this coming year, however, I've worked all summer on a piece that is two levels higher (the highest level, Musically Advanced II) and I almost have it completely memorized...
I have to play another solo (definitely Clair De Lune) and a concerto (Mozart's Concerto in D minor [easy]) and all are to be memorized. So the solo in the VD I level she wants me to do is Gershwin's Prelude No.1, which I love. The piece I want to play in MA II is Rachmaninov's Polichinelle Op. 3, No. 4. Should I ask her if I can go for it? Is Polichinelle and Clair De Lune together too long of a performance?
I know it's dumb but I am terrified of my teacher, which is why I'm asking.
Oh, and the performance is in February 2009
