Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Roddick to play in Switzerland – Preview: Davidoff Swiss Indoors 2011
The 2011 Davidoff Swiss Indoors scheduled from October 31 to November 6, 2011, would feature tennis heavyweights of the world with the likes of current Wimbledon Champion and world number one Novak Djokovic (Serbia), world number
four Roger Federer (Switzerland), world number fourteen Andy Roddick (USA) and world number seven Tomas Berdych (Czech Republic). Roger Federer, the local boy, has won the Swiss Indoors four times in 2006-2008 and 2010.
He would be the defending champion, as he would face a line-up of great tennis players in the quest to retain his title. In the 2010 event, Federer defeated Djokovic and this year the Serbian would be willing to take his revenge
against the Swiss player. Federer has also been a runner-up of the tournament in 2000, 2001 and 2009. Great Britain’s Murray received a wild card entry for the tournament. With his entry in the event, Murray, who has yet to win a Grand Slam title, is hopeful
to extend his current winning streak by participating in the Swiss tournament. Marco Chiudinelli (Switzerland) and Laurynas Grigelis (Lithuania) have also joined Andy Murray as wild card entrants into the tournament.
Local player, 30-year old Chiudinelli, would be anticipating a match against compatriot Federer, which would be a sight to witness by the home crowd who would certainly enjoy it.  Lithuanian player, 20-year old Laurynas Grigelis,
ranked at 205th in the world will also try to make use of his wild card entry and progress into the tournament. Although upset wins can happen in any tournament, but both Grigelis and 203rd ranked Chiudinelli may not get past heavy contenders with the likes
of Federer, Djokovic, Roddick and Berdych.
All participating players should have to keep a close eye on Roger Federer, for he has the experience of playing at Swiss Indoors seven times. The 16-time Grand Slam champion would also analyze the wild card entry Andy Murray,
who would be making his debut entry in the tournament. Murray has won five titles in 2011, four contested on hard courts, so he can bring in his hard court experience with him against his opponents in Switzerland.
World number one and 2011 Wimbledon Champion, Novak Djokovic, will also make his re-entry in tennis as an active player after he faced a back injury while playing in the semi finals of the Davis Cup. The 24-year old Serbian has
won 67 games in 2011, lost 3 and won ten titles including the Wimbledon men’s singles title. The 2011 Swiss Indoor will certainly be an exciting event as eight of the participating players fall in the top ten ranked players in the world.
Entering the tournament as a number one seeded player, Serbian Djokovic would be working to win another title this season while number two seeded Britain’s Andy Murray would try to improve his game play, for he has been a bit rusty
with his shots in the past few tournaments. Seeded at number 3, Roger Federer would be the player to watch, as the players would surely be intimidated by the 30-year old Federer, who is always a difficult opponent.
