Federer Backs Murray to Get Better
Roger Federer, the greatest tennis player of all time, has backed Andy Murray to get better and come good in a Grand Slam at some point in the near future.

Murray has now been in a number of Grand Slam semi-finals and final matches but has never been able to do the little bit more, which is needed to get over the line and win his maiden Grand Slam title.
Federer beat Murray in the final of the Australian Open at the start of the year and he says that the Scot has to keep his belief and keep going in order to win a title. A number of top players have said that Murray is far too good to go through his career without lifting at least one title and it seems it's a matter of time until it happens.
There are so many parts of Murray's game, which work to his advantage and can be considered huge positives. Federer also says that he has to use his experience as he goes on to try and win because it will help him through the pressure moments once he gets into a winning position.
His Game
Wimbledon showed that Murray's game is in very good shape but it's the consistency, which needs to be improved if Murray is going to win a Grand Slam at some point in his career. His serve has enough power and variety, and won him a lot of points and this was evident at times during the Wimbledon semi-final with Rafael Nadal.
Murray's ground strokes look very good and equally powerful. However, Murray has got to work harder at stretching his opponents across the tennis court, which will wear them down very quickly. He can then smash a ground stroke into an open area to win the point.
There have been big questions in the recent past over whether the Scot is fit enough to win a major tournament but he looked fitter than he has ever been at Wimbledon. This will help him because he is bound to be involved in some much longer matches in big tournaments due to the high standard of players in this modern generation.
Years Ahead
It is very important that Murray does believe he is too good to go for much longer without a Grand slam title to his name. He needs a lot to go in his favour but the point is that he still has plenty of time to work hard and get a victory under his belt.
This will help him to keep his belief up, which is something that the likes of Federer say is very important if you are going to succeed. The moment that a player lets his belief drop is the very moment that the player virtually admits defeat. This is very dangerous because it can often mean that a player goes into tournaments lacking a real motivation to win.

Murray has admitted during his career so far that the hard courts of America are his favourite and best surface. He is an outside bet to win the US Open based on the current form of Rafa Nadal and the expected resurgence, which is likely to come from Federer.
Therefore, your best option is to take your foot off of the gas and watch how the field plays in the first round or two of the next Grand Slam. At Wimbledon it was apparent who was going to do well very early on and this will let you judge who has a better chance of lifting the last Grand Slam trophy of the season.
