Federer and Nadal to play charity match
It may be touted as one of the greatest rivalries in tennis, but in recent times tennis fans have rarely been afforded the opportunity to witness Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal go toe-to-toe on court.
With the pair failing to meet in a Grand Slam final since Nadal won the Australian Open in 2009 and playing one another only twice more since there could be no better time to engineer an occasion that pitted the world’s top two players against one another.
And it shouldn’t come as any great surprise that these two sporting good guys are now going to do so in the name of charity, firstly in a charity match for Africa in Zurich on December 21st and then in an exhibition match organised by the Rafa Nadal Foundation to be held in Madrid on December 22th to raise funds for children with disabilities and youngsters coming from underprivileged communities.
In the meantime, fans have two more potential opportunities to see the 16-time Grand Slam champion clash with this year’s Roland Garros, Wimbledon and US Open winner on the ATP tour, with both players scheduled to contest the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris before they head to London for the World Tour Finals at the end of November.
