Djokovic takes over Federer - Internazionali BNL d’Italia 2012
Right-hander Serbian, Novak Djokovic, battled against the Swiss veteran, Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, a 1000 point ATP Masters event held at the hard courts of Rome. Djokovic consolidated
his straight-sets win, 6-2, 7-6(4).
The two rivals started the match at a decent note, and the Swiss professional played at a very remarkable pace in the start but he unable to clinch the victory as the game continued. The Serbian contestant levelled down the score
to 5-all and took a flying start towards the end. Nonetheless, the second set landed in a tie-break round and the Serbian secured the early mini break, winning in nearly one hour and 40 minutes.
In the past, the 25-year-old Serbian won the title at Rome twice. However, in 2012, he was unable to rally forward in the final round, as he was unable to handle the might of the King of clay, Rafael Nadal.
Talking to the media, the Serb said, “Here he was winning convincingly in all his matches, so I knew he was in good form. I needed to step in the match, believing I could win. I played really good from the beginning to the end.

Federer ousts Djokovic – Roland Garros 2011
The world number two, Federer gave a four-set defeat, 7-6(5), 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(5), in the semi-final round of the Roland Garros in 2011. The Swiss professional was very hopeful of his win against the higher ranked Serbian rival.
The two opponents manifested exceptional tennis performance in the 70 minutes match against one another. The Swiss senior established his lead the entire time and did not give the Serbian a single chance to dominate.
Djokovic slightly mounted up his pace as the match progressed but his attempts to take over but was thrown down the drain. The Serbian delivered powerful serves in last set and Federer nudged up to claw away the win, opening a
new door of horizon for himself.
Federer progressed to his 23rd Grand Slam Championship final after his triumph over Djokovic. The Swiss veteran was able to bag home the winning trophy in the year 2009 but was unable to withstand the clay champion,
Nadal’s pressure in the 2011 final.
