  1. No, he was suffering at the hands of Nadal, who was unbeatable today.  It had nothing to do with any past so-called illnesses, just sheer domination of one player over the other.  Nadal was not going to lose to anyone today.

  2. no man but nadal was in his best performance of his carerr he will be no 1 soon

  3. He got to the final. Nadal is just unbeatable on clay. Who else won a set from Nadal??? No one.

  4. Yes, it's discovered on the day of his loss, after his loss. Seriously puzzling illness.

  5. Hey Michael, are you a Nguyen?

Nadal is just a juggernaut on clay.  As hard as it is to believe, Nadal is actually getting better on clay.

The way he was playing, I don't think there's anyone ever in the history of tennis who could have beaten Nadal on clay today.  I think Federer realized that today.

    1)  Nadal improved his backhand.  Before, this was perhaps the only safe place to go.  Today it wasn't even safe to go to his backhand.

    2)  Nadal is serving a lot better.  And he's returning unbelievably.

    3)  He's hitting a lot harder and more aggressively than he's ever been hitting.  Add that to his defense and tenacity, I really can't imagine anyone beating him on clay, unless he's injured like he was against Ferrero.

Federer took it like a good sport.  They've got lots of respect for each other.  He gave all credit to Nadal -- how can you not?  It was an amazing display of clay court mastery.  Let's keep talking about the illness even after he retires, that'll be fun.  And when Nadal's and Federer's kids are plying professionally, let's bring it back up.  Seriously puzzling case of amnesia some people have -- they've forgetten that they've already harped on it a zillion times before.

  6. i think nadal jus improved A LOT

  7. According to what Federer has told reporters he has felt much better than he has in a while but some of the commentators for the Tennis Channel was saying during his match with Mario Ancic that it can still take a good while to fully recover from mono even if feeling physically better than before.

They mentioned that Mario Ancic dealt with mono some time back so had an idea of what Roger was dealing with.

  8. Absolutely not. He had no problem with it all week, or all clay season for that matter.

  9. Nadal is a true champion, modest, gracious and soooo talented.'However, I don't think anybody who looks at the match last year and the match this year wouldn't be aware of the difference in Federer.

    Something is up -

He just isn't the same man out there on the court.

We can speculate as much as we like, until Federer is ready to admit why his game is off song.

Sometimes it happens with great players - Tiger Woods had a really bad year but came back. Agassi was completely written off- and came back a greater champion that ever before.

My personal feeling is Federer needs to take a leaf out of Agassi book. Change his diet, get a personal trainer devote some time to his physical health.

Nadal was stunning, so fast so fit, so gracious.

    He is a champion.

  10. No. He was beaten fair and square. He himself had the class to admit that. When John mcEnroe asked if even tiredness was an issue in the match, he shot that notion down. Class act.
