The Italy national team full-back was brimming with confidence when asked about La Nazionale's progression in the next rounds of the European Championships.
The Azzurri qualified for the quarter-finals of the tournament in a nerve-wracking fashion, as the Italians knew a victory might not be enough to ensure their progression into the quarter-finals of the tournament.

victory against the Croatians ensured that the Azzurri qualified into the next round of the tournament.
The versatile full-back was over the moon after their qualification was guaranteed and he was talking to the press after the match ended. He was satisfied with the performance of his team-mates.
He went on to state:
“We’re never certain of winning, but we knew that we had to and gave our all. It was a positive performance and we were luckier than in previous Euros.”
The Italian national remarked on the atmosphere and the camaraderie within the camp. He also went on to reflect on the emotions after they heard about the result of the Spain-Croatia match. He was further quoted to have said:
“We are training hard and are remarkably fired up, while the day-to-day atmosphere within the squad is exceptional. It was an explosion of joy with the goals and the news from Gdansk, so it was wonderful.”
Balzaretti was pleased with his performance as well and he stated that the presence of his family in the stadium made a great difference to the joy as well, and mentioned:
“My wife and children were also in the stands, so it was extra special.”
