Day 7 of the Mercedes Cup will see Federico Del Bonis, the Argentinean play against the Spaniard, Juan Carlos Ferrero; meeting for the first time both the players will duel it out on the classic clay courts of Tennis Club Weissenhof
Court, Stuttgart Germany.
Born on the 5th of October 1990, the Left-hander, Federico Del Bonis, has had a winning streak in the Mercedes Cup 2011 and has managed to upset two of the world’s top 50 players. He won 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of the Mercedes
Cup against the world number 20, Florian Mayer. He then went onto the second round where he won Sergiy Stakhovsky beating him two sets to zero. He then landed himself in the quarterfinal where he ousts P. Cervenak.
This year, out of the three Grand slams, the right hander has played two grand slams; the first being the French Open, where he won the first qualifying round battled it out against Redna El Amrani winning 6-3, 6-4 but then lost
the second qualifying round to Albert Ramos L 6-4, 1-6, 2-6. His last run was at Wimbledon where he lost the first qualifying round to Rik De Voest L 3-6, 4-6 and hence never made to either of the main draw of the event. Nonetheless, he has played top hundred
players with most notable performance was in opposition to world number forty seven, Fabio Fognini at the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Madrid, Spain, winning W 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 .
The 31-year-old Juan Carlos Ferrero also the former world number one has a competitive edge over his opponent through his experience of playing world class players and being a clay court specialist. Throughout his professional
life he has played 698 matches out of which he has won a walloping 457 thus giving him an upper hand because of his style and technique. In addition to this he has bagged fifteen career titles. This year he has played five matches out of which he has managed
to win three and lost only two, a good sixty percent! Although the defending champion; of 2011 Brasil Open and the 2011 Copa Claro, he withdrew due to a wrist and knee injury and therefore has had a relatively slow year.  
The right hander, Juan Carlos Ferrero has been nicknamed the "Mosquito" by many experts due to his speed and his slight physical stature and is the most favoured amongst the two of them to win the semi-final. However, we should
expect the Argentinean to put up a good fight.
