Cagliari goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Federico-Marchetti-c13477, is on the brink of completing his move to Italian outfit, Lazio.
Marchetti is being signed as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Muslera-c13690, who left the Biancazzurri to join Turkish side, Galatasaray, yesterday. The Italian intentional is undergoing a medical in the capital city, Rome, and will complete
his move in the next few hours.
The two clubs have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of 5-million-Euros and the shot-stopper has agreed personal terms with the club too. The 28-year-old has expressed his delight over the deal and he is extremely thankful
to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 for rescuing him from Rossoblu.
Marchetti had fallen out in relations with Cagliari president, Massimo Cellino, and was dropped to the sidelines for the whole of 2010/11 season. The former Torino goalkeeper has not featured in a game since the 2010 FIFA World
Cup and is raring to start playing professional football soon.
Talking to the reporters Marchetti said, “I’m happy to be here. It’d be great to play football again – it’s the end of a nightmare. I have always trained with consistency and I’m happy that President Claudio Lotito and Lazio believed
in me. I instantly had faith in the Lazio project and I fully supported the move,”
“It’s the European Championship next summer and I’d like to be there with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926. I want to do well for that reason too.”
Marchetti is expected to sign a five-year deal with the Biancazzurri, which will make him the club’s property till the end of 2015/16 season. The custodian has been linked with several Italian clubs in the past too and Sampdoria
missed on his signature in the summer transfer window last season.
Italian outfit, Genoa, were also interested in signing the player but he preferred a move to Stadio Olimpico Rome instead. The shot-stopper had a fantastic start to his career at Cagliari but had a nightmare end to it. His impressive
performances for the club in 2009, also handed him a call-up in the Italian national team.
Marchetti made 33 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Donadoni’s side in his two year stint with the club.
