Randy is not a greater champion and actually one of the the most overrated fighters ever.  Just go and look at their record.  Couture is 16-8.  Fedor is 28-1, with the one loss being a controversial doctor's stoppage which he later avenged.

In every facet of the game Fedor's skills exceed those of Couture.  He is a far better striker, (just watch him in his fight against a Crocop who was in his prime) his ground game is better.  He has also proven that wrestlers are no problem for him, easily dispatching Mark Coleman twice and Matt Lindland.

Just go over to youtube and watch all of their fights.  If you really take the time to compare them, you will see that Randy isn't even close to being in Fedor's league.  What makes Randy so recognized is that he is good at marketing  and capitalized on his win over Tito Ortiz and Tim Sylvia.  (you can also compare their fights against Sylvia if you want) Randy took him to decision, Fedor beat him in 36 seconds.

Randy has heart, but other than that, he hasn't been a great fighter.  He just never had the total skill package to be among the greatest.  I don't even think he would stand a chance against the current interim UFC heavyweight champ, or even Anderson Silva.

EDIT:  I'm going to give you some additional info on Fedor, since you don't really seem to be familiar with his career.  When he captured the Pride belt, he took it from Nogoiera , who was at the time unstoppable.  At that time, Pride also had the deepest and most developed heavyweight division, since they started with only heavyweights.  He beat all of the top people in their prime,  including Nogoeira, and Crocop.  He demolished them in their prime.  Just what heavyweights has Randy beaten in their prime?

Then watch part two, and ask me what you think about Fedor facing people out of their prime.    I look forward to hearing your opinion. And you say he only fought people who are washed up and out of the UFC, he demolished the current UFC heavyweight champion twice, you know.  You act as though the UFC is MMA.

If you are asking my opinion of who I like better its hands down Randy. Talent would have to go to Fedor. Heart would go to Randy. Character would go to Randy. Better Champion is Randy. Now if  your asking who would win this fight?? man who knows. I will never underestimate Randy Couture again.

really? randy has lost almost as many big fights as he's won, plus chuck whooped his *** twice, fedor is a good striker(see, syliva fight) and way better on the ground than chuck, so what makes randy a better champion, I would root for randy to win, but I don't get that better champion comment, and oh, didn't fedor hold the pride hw belt for like 4 or 5 years?

With all due respect Fedor has never even really lost a round in 28 fights (cut should be turned to a NC from his first fight) where Randy is 16-8 so he ahs won 66% as opposed to Fedor who has 100%.  I am a huge Randy fan, but put that aside and just look at what has been accomplished and I think Fedor holding the PRIDE belt for 3 years never losing puts him at the top of the HW's for now.

Who did Randy beat at their peak at HW???  The current UFC champion was who Fedor beat at his prime and took the PRIDE belt away from Big Nog, He beat CroCop when he was at the top of his game.  I have a feeling you are new to the sport if you don't understand the fighters that Fedor beat and never even lost a round my friend.  Randy lost to Ricco, Barnett who couldn't even get the PRIDE championship from NOg or beat CroCop both things Fedor accomplished.  Fedor is in his prime and Randy will be lucky if the fight never happens

Randy can win if he can outbox Fedor, control his body in the clinch, and then get dominate position on the ground, which are the usual Randy Couture keys to success. People overrate Fedor's striking, and underrate Randy's...I mean, come on. In his first fight with Liddell, he did win the punching exchanges. He also outstruck Tim Sylvia. The problem is, Fedor is dangerous from his back. His armbars are slick, and can come at any time, from any angle. Also, whether the match is fought in a cage or a ring would be a very important factor. In a cage, I give Randy the advantage, as far as control in clinch and on the ground. In a ring, it would be too close to call.

if we talk about who is better champion all around, i would say fedor because he has a dominatinf and veryyyy scary presence when he fights... I think this will be a great fight even tho randy is very aged... unfortunatly Fedor cant fight for up to 6 months because of a broken hand in the tim sylvia fight, and the legal issues with randy and UFC could stall for even longer... its a shame =[
