I currently have Windows Vista and nvidia graphics on my HP Pavilion dv2000. Im interested in trying Fedora 10, so i download the live iso for the 64 bit version so no permanent changes are made. When i boot the cd, Fedora goes through the loading process in its text mode. I am prompted to enter a localhost name and password. i entered "root", then "startx" in the text mode, and soon a message that says "fatal server error: no screens found". Then i cannot do anything else. I never see a GUI desktop. does anyone know a solution to this?

  1. I hop you are not entering startx without entering a password. For Nvidia there is a licencing problem due to Nvidia deals with other OS writers. Linux distributions can not include certain Nvidia drivers. They are available as add-ons. Generally you should run the graphics configuration tool before the card would work anyway.
