Question:

Fedora 9 live cd issue?

I want to try Fedora 9 on a live disk on my HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop. After burning the iso file onto a cd, I booted from the disk and Fedora started its process. After a while, it tells me to enter a localhost name and password, but i never set a login or password. I tried to enter random thing. I entered something for the localhost name, then tried to enter a password, but nothing shows up in the password form. Does anyone know a solution to this?

  1. It does not show anything in the password field. That's normal. Windows normally shows stars. Linux shows nothing.

PS When it ask you for a name and password when installing Fedora, give it a unique name and password that you will be using as "super user" or administrator. Just remember that nothing will show up in the password field as you are typing it, although it is there.

Have you started the installation from scratch? In other words deleted the first installation? I'm running Fedora 8 and am not too familiar with the finer points of 9. The guys at this forum, http://forums.fedoraforum.org/ , will be able to answer your question in no time. Indeed a friendly group.

NEW: From what I gather there are still a few problems with Fedora 9 that needs sorting. Fedora 8, however, is fabulous.
