I'm thinking about switching from Progressive to Geico. I just wanted to know if Progressive would charge a fee If I cancelled the policy with them?

  1. Progressive won't charge a fee.....but, you may be required to pay "earned" premium.  The actual cost of insurance from the day you started till the day you ended.

Be carefull.........Progressive is a larger company than GEICO and pay their claims much better and faster than GEICO.

I have had TOTAL LOSS vehicle claims paid in SEVENTY TWO HOURS!  Most companies are just getting around to calling their customer for the first time in that amount of time.

Good luck with what you decide...but, in all truthfulness, you would be better served by a LOCAL independent agent!

  2. As a former employee and current agent for Progressive, I know that it depends on what state you live in and how long you have had the policy.  Some states will not allow a flat  cancellation fee, but you may be penalized for cancelling the policy early by foregoing any refund if unearned premium that you have already paid.  Progressive will charge a cancellation fee in most other states if the policy is cancelled in the first 6 months.

  3. they will charge you earned premium.  if you are looking to change companies i would urge you to look around and not go to Geico.  they ahve a bad claim history.

  4. No, they don't.
