  1. Here is a link to homemade cricket diet...it's what I use and my crickets do great on it.  The gel diets are worthless.  Also, provide a shallow dish of water for the crickets at all times...not deep enough for them to drown in.

  2. Insects may be fed on a variety of foods including:

    Prickly pears (Vitamin C)

    Mustard greens (Vitamin C, beta-carotene)

    Carrots (beta-carotene)

    Squashes (Vitamin C, beta-carotene)

    Apples

Beta-carotene is converted in the body to vitamin A, something that the insect will lack without proper gut-loading.

Fruit and vegetables which should not be used for cricket food include the acidic/citrus fruits (e.g. orange, lemon, tomato), these fruits cause diarrhoea in the crickets resulting in dehydration. Other fruits and vegetables to avoid are spinach and broccoli which are calcium binders.

You could also feed them cat/dog biscuits to increase the level of protien in them. Other things such as lettuce, potato peel etc can also be fed to the insects.

The insects should recieve most of their moisture from their food.

  3. Carrots and veggies for food and potatoes or a wet paper towel for water so they wont drowned. I got to a site called www.reptilesupply.com and i can buy cricket food and drink in a big jar for like 7 shipped
