Ok, well today I took my new Digital Camera out for the first time, and whilst on the train home, I was taking pictures of the sunset which looked beautiful -

I was wondering how is this photo for an amateur?

Is there any ways I could improve on taking such shots (bare in mind this was taken on a speeding train haha)

Hope you dont mind me putting my name on it, =)

Thanks in advanced:

  1. You're well on the way to record everything that interests you. You've emphasised the sky (well done). You've avoided placing the horizon (So you're not cutting the image in half).

Next time take the sunset from a stationary point. You could then add some interest in the foreground to help the eye into the exploring your image

  2. I love it. It looks so angelic.

I'm an amateur too [you answered my question about my photo ;)] so I can't really give you any proper tips.

  3. Wow. For an amature that is pretty impressive. I often have trouble setting my shutter speed exactly right but thats brilliant for a speeding train.

Also, the composition is brilliant. The emphaisis is on the sunset but the bottom third of the photograph really gives it depth and a relaxing atmosphere.

One thing, mayby change you're ISO setting. The photograph is a little dark and lacks a bit of contrast at the bottom. But on the whole
