Question:

Feedburner---views...?

How long does it take for feedburner to update---I added my blog, and it still shows that I have zero views--which I know isn't true--I have had about 80 or so today according to my site monitor---I added feedburner yesterday. Does it take a full 24 hours ? I am trying to see if all my postings on message boards etc is adding new subscribers to my blog--I know my traffic has dramatically increased---so I guessing subscribers would as well..yesterday it was 3.

Thank you for ALL your help!

  1. Hi,

First of all, the Feedburner only shows your syndicated traffic (RSS/ATOM). The feed count usually only a small porition of actual traffic (ie. if you had may be 100 visitors, probably only 10 or 15 of them read your blog via feed readers). To know your actual traffic, other than feed as well, use Google Analytics which is a free service from Google.

If your question was regarding Feedburner count alone...this is how feedburner works!

    1. It is never real time. So basically the count that you see is yesterday's subscription.

    2. Even the subscription number you see there will not be changed through out the day. It is more like the average number of subscriptions as measured (by access pattern) as on the previous day.

    3. Initially it may take a couple of days to get that zero removed. The best way to deal with the situation is not to put the feed count chicklet until you make sure that it is displaying something other than zero.

    4. Once it is more than zero, it will keep updating every day with the previous days' numbers (although it shows zero in your feedburner account during their bulk update post midnight, it won't be shown as zero in the chicklet)

    Hope this helps,

    Ajith
