Feeder fish breeding

Question

I'm a little confused on feeder fish, I have a turtle n want to try breeding fish for him to mung on, but whats the best fish to do so with?

And will i be able to just do it in a normal tank or will i need filters n all that stuff?

I'm in Australia (vic)

feeder fish are really cheap. gold fish are hard to breed with out a large pond, but guppies will breed plenty. when you first get the fish however you must isolate them for a few days because they may hold diseases.  after than you can just leave them in the tank with the turtle. make hiding places though so that the infant fish can hid and grow in. turtles are messy eaters and leave bits everywhere. don't bother feeding them fish because the fish will eat the bits and even the turtles f***s

guppies. In this pet store that I go to they are $13 USD for 100. You need to get feeder or wild type guppies as they are cheaper. If I were you I would buy about 15-20 for a 35g tank. in about a month you will have many fry.

You now have 2 options feed all of the large guppies to the turtle or keep them and raise to new guppies to be feeders.

My personal suggestion is take out all but 3 or 4 of the colorful ones (males) and feed them to the turtle. Get more until you have about 1 male to 5 females. So that you have the highest amount of breeding females as possible. If you had 10 males and one female only 1 female would be giving birth. Now with 10 females you have 10 females giving birth every month.

Maybe you just want a few to feed him? Get a 10g tank, try and get 1 male and 4-5 females. They will breed, put the babies in a fry net, raise them and feed them to the turtle. The tank is $10 filter about $10 heater about $18. Don't get gravel or anything. You don't even need a light but it is recommended.
