Ok, I recently learned that my toad doesnt like the frozen blood worms so I got him crickets. He ate it so it made me happy :)

But I also learned that the crickets need to be a certain size..

How big should it be?

Some of the crickets the lady gave me are a lot bigger than his mouth, so what do I do with the big ones?

How many times should I feed him?

(Sorry for post again, I didnt get any answers ) :(

  1. I have two healthy happy FBTs

Crickets should be pretty small.  About the size of their mouth or smaller.  Ask for small at the store, maybe 1/2 inch.

As for the big ones, try feeding one too see fi he can take it.  If not go back to where you got them and say that they are too big for your toad.  They shold understand and give you smaller ones, or maybe give your money back.

You should feed about 3 times a weeks, or every 2 days.  Feed 3 or 4 crickets.

The last thing is to make sure you are feeding the crickets so they will have nutrients in them for you toad.  You can fed carrots for a water source and some dog kibble and oat meal for a dry source.  The easiest thing is to buy some at the petstore, ask an employee for "gut load".

    HTH and good luck :)

  2. fire bellies are capable of amazing feats including scarfing down cricks that are seemingly too big for their mouth

a fire belly an 1" to 1.5" long should have small crix about 3 weeks old

any larger one are adults and should get mediums between 4 and 6 weeks

  3. I have six fire bellied toads. any size that i've put in the tank has been eaten. i feed mine once to twice a day. i dont think they can over eat. but if you have more than one, and if they are hungry enough they'll try to eat the toad that's smaller than them.
