  1. i started cereal at about 5 months, and real food about 6 months. I also started a sippy cup at meals at 6 months and by about 10 months my son only used a sippy cup. The best idea of when to start feeding them foods is when they can sit up without support. GOOD LUCK, I hope this helps.

  2. I gave her cereal at three weeks.  My dad gave her mashed potatoes at three weeks. Other foods came from Gerber until she was about 13 months and had a few teeth.  She had no sippy cup.  She had a real cup but we helped her with it.  That was at about 10 months.  Now she's 38 and doing fine.  The doctor had me take her off formula at about 8 months and she had reconstituted dry milk after that.

  3. i introduced cereal and purees at 6 months and tried to feed them to ruby for 6 weeks. she never ate them. she began feeding herself cheerios and toasted pita with cheese at 7 1/2 months but would eat nothing else until 11 1/2 months when she suddenly was ready to eat. she is an excellent eater now at 14 months. she never ever ate purees, just real food that she could grab. at 11 months i gave her a sippy cup, and two days later she was off bottles completely. she took to the cup very easily despite the fact that i introduces it later than most -- we were lucky there.

  4. We broke all the rules.  Emma was on cereal at three months (she was on cereal in her bottle for reflux since two months per bad doctor advice and at three months we switched to Enfamil AR at three months per good doctor advice and the formula alone would not fill her up).  At four months we did homemade veggies in the blender.  At five months, fruit and some finger foods.  At six months she started on a little table food.  By seven months it was mostly table food and some homemade mashed baby food.  She got a sippy at four months and learned to use it well by six months.  She still takes two bottles and two sippy's a day.  She is nine months old.
