  1. When I had minis that were in training and shown I fed them 1/4 cup grain mix 2x a day and a handful of hay twice a day.  They also were on pasture but with muzzles so they couldn't really graze but did get a few blades of grass.  These ponies were usually driven for 4 to 5 miles 6 days a week and they were lunged and worked in hand over jumps and through obsticles 6 days a week as well.  They were both in great shape but would have gotten fat on what they were eating if they hadn't have been worked as hard as they were.  Trainers who more regularly work with minis usually have a treadmill for the ponies.

  2. Hay and grain and grass, depends on the horse itself

  3. In the summer (providing there is enough grass) i have them on pasture and once a week a bit of grain as a treat. In the winter i give them a large handful of hay 2 times a day. Its hard to make sure that your not over or under feeding miniatures because they  only require a little bit of feed (depending on your mini). From a small hay bale i usually feed close to one flake, large hay bale a large handful. Just experiment if you are new to minis, but make sure they don't get to fat! (or to skinny), Miniatures are sooo easy to feed to much!  The ages of mine are 8,2,1, 4 months and 2 months. The young ones get a small handful and the older ones get a large -1 flake. but it all depends on their exercise  level.i didn't exercises them last year much.

    Hope this helps
