A bluejay was attacking this baby bird before I rescued it. The bird is still alive (was rescued yesterday). The bird is chripping and trying to drink water from a straw. One of the claws has dried up (from the bluejay attack). Don't know what to feed the bird or should i just take it to the SPCA to be put down..

  1. I would either take it somewhere, or  just let it go, my niece found 4 birds, although they would drink they would not eat- i think its bcuz they were used 2 their mother feeding them- but they all died 2 days later- so mayb if u give them a chance somewhere else they will survive-its not going 2 eat from u whatever u provide.

  2. You need to find someone who can take care of wild anaimals ASAP! I know we would love to take care of all baby or injured animals that we might find but if you do not kno what to do thats deadly. Most likley you will kill the bird because it will die because you do not know how to care for it. If you cannot find someone to take the bird, I would put it right back where you found it and let nature take is course. Sounds harsh but would be for the best.

  3. Try feeding it bits of canned cat food, which is full of protein but won't have any of the parasites that may be found in bugs you get outdoors (not to mention it's easier to acquire). As soon as you get the opportunity, take it to a local wildlife rehabilitator. They will do whatever they can to help it. That is its best chance for survival.

  4. Get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival..look here for one near you:
