Feeding over 100 people all night!?!?

Okay, I don't have to feed all these people myself, but I'm going to help by bringing a few things that people can munch on. saturday night, right after prom, we have an afterprom party called rowdy worm. it runs from midnight until about 7 in the morning. I want to help out by bringing food. The entire school will be there from freshman up to the seniors. Some other kids will bring little munchies, chips, soda, that kind of stuff, maybe brownies or something. I want to bring a couple things. if you have any ideas you want to share, that would be amazing!

* I can cook very well, so nothing can be too complicated

* I have some ideas, but it never hurts to know what others are

thinking, right?

* The recipes can be regular ones (and I'd prefer it that way),

meaning no recipes that serve 100:P

* Also, please nothing that needs to be frozen or constantly

refrigerated, like ice cream or home made truffles.

  1. how about eggrolls? everybody loves those.

or you can bring a bunch of different vegetables with a dip such as ranch dressing.

you could make cookies or a coffee flavored cake

    you could make cupcakes.

you could melt milk chocolate [any kind] (i melt it in the microwave) and dip it in strawberries then put them on a platter and give them if you have a different way basically what i'm saying is chocolate covered strawberries.

or you can bring mini pancakes and some maple syrup and whipped cream.

or you can just bring popcorn

  2. I think it's important to have some real food ..

Make a bunch of danish meatballs - they can be heated in the oven or just eaten cold:

    Danish meatballs

    Enough for 20 people (buffet)

500 grams (1,1 pound) ground pork (see note)

500 grams (1,1 pound) ground veal (see note)

    3 eggs

    1 tablespoon coarse salt

    150 grams (5 ounces) oatmeal

300 grams (10 ounces) finely chopped onion

    1,2 cup heavy cream

    0,8 cup milk

    3 teaspoons ground pepper

    Butter or margarine

    3 tablespoons oil

    - and some boiling water in a cup

In a food processor, run egg with salt, and then add the meat.

Add other ingredients, and run the mixture until it’s even.

Don’t necessarily add all the milk.

Let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for about an hour.

If it’s too firm, add more milk. If it’s too loose add more oatmeal.

Melt butter on a skillet and add oil. When it’s warm, make the meatballs by dipping a tablespoon in boiling water, and scooping up a spoon full of the meat. Shape the meat into oblong, flat-ish balls with the spoon and your hand, and place in the hot skillet.

Fry about 3 minutes on each side.

Then place the meatballs in a baking pan or an oven-proof dish, and place in the oven at 300°F.

Note: the meat could also be all pork or all veal, it could be lamb, beef or chicken – or any combination of the above.

The important thing is to keep the fat content of the meat at about 7 - 10% combined.

  3. I love those roll ups made with flour tortillas, cream cheese and ham.  They are so good, don't need to be refrigerated or heated, and look nice.  Here's one recipe:

and I think the Ranch dressing mix packets have a recipe on them too.

  4. How about making a few of these party size sandwiches?  You can cut them or let them do it.  Hope you have lots of fun at the party!

    Party-Size Hero Sandwich

(Feel free to add, subtract, or substitute meats & cheeses.  Also, you can have pickles, peppers & onions on the side for those that wish to add them to their portion.)  Serves about 10

2 long French loaves (1 to 1-1/2 pounds each)

    3 to 4 tablespoons mayonnaise

3 to 4 tablespoons mustard of your choice

    6 ounces sliced ham

6 ounces thinly sliced dry salami (plain or pepper coated)

    6 ounces sliced mortadella

6 ounces thinly sliced mild or hot coppa

8 ounces sliced Edam, mild Gouda or Jack cheese

1 large or 2 small tomatoes, sliced

Lettuce leaves, either tender or crisp

Split the loaves lengthwise; spread the bottom halves with mayonnaise, the top halves with mustard.  Arrange the meats in even layers on the bread bottoms, in the order given (alternating lighter & darker colors, lighter & denser textures).  Fold the meats as necessary so they don’t hang out too much & try to make the thickness of each layer as even as possible from end to end.  Top the meats with a layer of cheese then tomatoes & lettuce, then the tops of the loaves.  Cut crosswise into sandwiches, or set out whole or half loaves on a long cutting board with a knife.

  5. How about:

Meatballs in Spaghetti Sauce, you could even get a few buns and could make sandwiches

Get the little packets of beef and add some cream cheese to them roll up and cut into bite size pieces

Pasta Salad (you could get white noodles and die them to your proms colors with food coloring while they are cooking)

Mini Cheesecakes with your prom colors
