Question:

Feeding venus flytrap?

Instead of finding animals for it to eat, can i just feed it droplets of blood? will this work? or do they need more nutrients?

  3. Hah! That's funny...droplets of blood.  You must have been watching "Little Shop of Horrors."

    Venus fly traps only eat live insects.  Drops of blood will not properly stimulate the trap to seal and start the digestion process.  You can read more about it here:

    Venus fly traps can survive just fine without eating anything as long as they are given plenty of bright light.  It is best to grow them outside where they can get at least 4 hours of direct sunlight a day.  Also, they can catch all the food they need on their own if they are growing outside.
