Feel tired of defending myself, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 – Cricket News Update
England’s star batsman, Kevin Pietersen, on Wednesday, said that he feels sick and tired of defending himself over his participation in the cash rich, Indian Premier League.
The right-handed batsman missed the earlier half of the County season, as he was taking part in the IPL. However, Pietersen returned home earlier this month to play a four-day game for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851, before the start of the home series
against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Pietersen, who was annoyed with the English media, said that he has to go through the same agony every year when he has to defend his partaking in IPL. The 31-year-old does not find any valid reason, as to why any player should
not play in the lucrative league, considering all the top-notch players from around the world participate in it.
“I'm sick and tired of having to defend myself about going to the IPL every year. I don't see why I need to defend myself. It's something that's there which all the best players in the world play in,” said a visibly irritated cricketer.
Pietersen made it clear that he will continue to be a part of the league that has transformed the game of cricket. The middle-order batsman, who was part of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 Daredevils in the IPL5, said, “Every single time in March and April,
I have to defend myself about going to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. But it's not going to change, I will play in the IPL, it's the best tournament going, and that's the way it is.”
Pietersen, who has been the driving force behind Delhi Daredevils' IPL5 campaign, admitted that it was a bit disappointing leaving the league half way through. However, he has turned his focus towards the upcoming Test series,
the first game of which will be played at Lord’s.
“Everyone says it's a shame missing out on the IPL for the rest of the series. Yes it is, but I'm playing the best form of cricket next week. I'm playing in a Test match at Lord's,” said Pietersen.
West Indies' tour of England kicks-off from Thursday, May 17, 2012 with a five-dayer at Lord’s, followed by games at Nottingham and Birmingham.
