Just before I'm about to fall into a deep sleep, I'll have an over whelming feeling of fear. I'll be thinking about terrorist attacks, or nuclear attacks, and i'll just feel so scared and fearful. Anyone have that feeling before you fall asleep?

  1. You have an anxiety about sleep.  Apparently something has happened to you in the past that has created an anxiety in you prior to falling asleep.  You have forgotten what the incident was, but it is embedded in your memory and keeps coming up at the moment you are about to fall into a deep sleep.

Some professional counseling might be able to get to the root of this anxiety and resolve it.

    Good luck.

  2. Do you feel gravity pushing you down, and then hear all kinds of weird sounds at night/presence of great fear? Its been happening to me too for the past 4 weeks now. I started searching and came across this site:

I posted for help and I'm following the tutorials now to get into dreams/try to make them lucid. I don't get that scared as much as I used to when I go to bed. I'll still hear those sounds and feel the gravity pulling me down, but I'm not scared because at least now I know what it is. When you feel this thing its called sleep paralysis/SP (The whole numbing up/hearing sounds etc.). The scientific term is hypnagogic I think. I'm still new to these terms, so I might be off. I hope I helped you out.

  3. Yep, I have that happen all the time.

    It's normal!

I just tell myself I'm not gonna think about that, and I think of something more pleasant, like the person I have a crush on or what things I want to buy, or just stupid things that get my mind off of the bad stuff that always comes up when I want to relax.

  5. I am personally blessed to not have fear because I have a Savior in Jesus Christ.

I know that my God is watching out for me and works all things together for my good because He loves me and I love Him and because He has called me according to His purpose. God protects me.

That doesn't mean that I haven't ever been afraid but it does mean that I trust in God to take care of me no matter what happens.  Even when bad things happen they could always be worse.  I give God credit for keeping me from worse things.

I have this wonderful gift called peace beyond understanding.  I don't know why things happen all the time but I know that God is working all things for my good.

You can have this gift too.

P.S. When you are afraid you can pray and ask God to protect you and to give you peace.  It's amazing what prayer can do.

  6. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with what you're experiencing, but sleep paralysis can often be associated with intense fear. And it tends to happen just before falling asleep, or just upon waking up.
