Felicia Lee wins Women’s 100m backstroke gold – Swimming news
Felicia F Lee of UN-26-MD/STAN won gold medal of Women’s 100m backstroke on day one of the 2013 Speedo Grand Challenge at Woollett Aquatic Centre on Sunday, May 26.
The 21-year-old Lee astounded her opponents in the 100m discipline as she cruised her way towards the finishing end for the title.
With her impeccable pace, Lee managed to secure her fastest qualification spot of the event and finished first in the race by producing an effort of 1 minute and 02.26 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Ella F Eastin of SCAL-CA, who was half a body length behind and transpired on the wall for silver medal by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 02.70 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Henry Stenkvist of UN-20-CA, who was 1.23 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal with the timing of 1 minute and 03.93 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Emily A Easting of SCAL-CA, who was 0.29 seconds slower and settled on the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 04.22 seconds.
Maddy Schaefer of UN-12-PC/STAN, who was prominently away from her preceding swimmer and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 03.79 seconds, obtained fifth fastest spot of the event.
Subsequently, Schaefer was trailed by Lolo M Blair of UN-20-CA, who was almost 0.70 seconds slower and hit the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 04.53 seconds for sixth place.
Seventh spot of the race was obtained by Lindsey Engel of OCW-CA, who was considerably behind and concluded her race in a time of 1 minute and 05.08 seconds.
Similarly, Engel was chased by Kate Santilena of UN-06-CA, who was 0.72 seconds slower from her fore going finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 05.80 seconds for eighth place.
Faith J Travis of PSP-CA, who was only 0.05 seconds slower from her former finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 05.85 seconds, obtained ninth position of the race.
Annemar Thayer of UN-12-PC, who was 0.22 seconds behind and posted 1 minute and 06.07 seconds, secured tenth position of the event.
In addition, Lee expressed happiness over her victory in the 100m discipline and received accolades at the prize distribution ceremony after the race.
