well i asked a question about anyone knowing where to buy a kitten. well it turns out that i ended up finding a 2 kittens. i gave one to a friend and i kept the other. he was sick and covered with fleas. well he is getting better now especially since his fleas are gone, but he has feline coccidiosis. he is now on antibiotics, we started him on them yesterday. his symptoms are watery diarrhea that sometimes has mucus in it! i was just wondering if anyone know how long it will be before this clears up. he is about 5 weeks old and weighs about 1.2 pounds. he is taking .15(i am not sure if it is like ml or what. i would go look but he finally fell asleep and i don't want to wake him up) morning and night....also he has no loss of appetite and is drinking quite a bit of water!

any help is much appreciated. thank you!

  1. As long as you keep him on the antibiotics, he should be fully recovered within a week to 10 days.

  2. It should get better in a couple of days, but be sure to give him all of the antibiotics.

  3. It's very common in kittens that were outdoors.  It takes about 10 days for it to clear up, and sometimes longer if it's a really stubborn case.   Expect him to feel much better and start to grow once it's under control!  The water drinking is to compensate from all the fluids he's losing from the diarrhea, so that's normal.
