Felipe Aguilar shares the seventh position, entering the final round of the Iskandar Johor Open
Felipe Aguilar of Chile carded a two-under par 70, in the second round of the weather-shortened Iskandar Johor Open, to take the share of the seventh position, on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
The Iskandar Johor Open is being staged at the Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful courses in Asia.
The tournament officials decided to shorten the event to 56 holes, after the inclement weather forced the game to suspend multiple times, during the first two rounds.
Aguilar marked an excellent start to his campaign in Malaysia, after carding a five-under par 67 in the opening round. His round included a total of six birdies against a lone bogey.
The Chilean then failed to keep the momentum going into the second round and conceded three bogeys and a double bogey, against seven birdies.
Starting on the 10th hole, he double bogeyed the 11th hole, followed by a bogey on the 12th hole.
He then tried to make a comeback by recording birdies on the 13th, 15th and the 18th hole.  The front nine of the course also witnessed him make a similar start, as he bogeyed the second hole.
Thereafter, he picked up some pace and added four shots to his scorecard, while conceding only a single bogey.
At the end of the day, he found himself settled three strokes behind the pace set by Daniel Chopra, who fired a 10-under par two-round score.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he admitted that he was struggling with his game on the greens.
“I played really solid. I’ve been hitting the ball really well but struggling with my putting,” he said. “But as long as I keep hitting the ball the way I’ve been doing, I hope that I can find something within my putting that will put the ball into the hole”.
He added, “Every shot counts if the tournament is cut to 54-hole and we’ve got to go all out now. We’ve got to play the shot like it’s the last shot because this is it. This is the last tournament of the year”.
