Felipe Alves Franca Silva pockets Men’s 50m breast-stroke gold: Day five - 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy
Felipe Alves Franca Silva ECP/SABESP pocketed the gold medal of Men’s 50m breast-stroke final on the fifth day of the ongoing 2011 Jose Finkel Trophy on Saturday, September 3, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Franca Silva claimed the gold medal of the single lap breast-stroke swim by submitting a phenomenal time of 27.49 seconds. His gold claiming effort placed him 0.13 seconds ahead of his subsequent swimmer, Joao Luiz Gomes Junior of ECP/SABESP, who followed
him on the podium for silver medal by clocking in a stupendous time of 27.62 seconds. Junior was chased by Felipe Ferreira Lima of FIAT/MINAS, who remained only 0.63 seconds behind Junior and concluded her race in a third fastest time of 28.25 seconds for
bronze medal.
In the meantime, Lima was traced by Raphael Oliveira Rodrigues of ECP/SABESP, who was only 0.22 seconds behind the bronze medallist and posted a fourth fastest time of 28.47 seconds. With her ferocious efforts, Rodrigues was only 0.17 seconds ahead of her
following swimmer, Henrique Marques Barbosa of CRF/RJ, who ended her fastest breast-stroke swim after he touched the finishing wall in a fifth finest time of 28.64 seconds.
Barbosa was chased by Silva’s team-member, Angelito Cassandra, who was just 0.08 seconds slower than him and reported on the wall in a sixth fastest time of 28.72 seconds. Meanwhile, Cassandra managed a marginal lead of 0.18 seconds over her next swimmer,
Paulo Magalhaes De Paula of UNISANTA, who earned seventh fastest spot of the swim, with a timing of 28.90 seconds.
Likewise, Paula remained in a lead of 0.03 seconds from over following swimmer and Lima’s team-member, Eduardo Aquiles Fischer, who touched the finishing wall and ended eighth in a time of 28.93 seconds.
In addition, the crowd enjoyed the stupendous effort of all swimmers, while the winners were invited on the medal rostrum for their splendid efforts, after the session’s completion. Furthermore, Silva expressed contentment over his victory in the final of
the respective meet.
