Felipe Massa aims for victories and podiums in 2012 Formula 1 season ahead – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa who has been seen struggling during the start of 2012 Formula 1 season is aiming for victories and podiums in the forthcoming races with his improved form.
Massa could only score 2 points in the first five races of the season. However, he made quite an impressive comeback in the sixth race held at Circuit de Monaco as he secured 6th place finish after setting off from 7th grid position.
The Brazilian driver expressed that he is targeting to score wins and podium finishes in the approaching races as he is feeling better in his improved car.
“I feel much better in car,” Massa said. “I think you know improving helps a lot the way of driving, especially for my driving style. I'm really looking forward to carrying on like that, improving, and fighting for many good points and even looking for victory
and podiums. This is really the target, direction and I feel much stronger in car now compared to beginning of the season.”
He added, “I'm here, always want to race, to fight for victory and that's what I did for many years, and I'm looking forward to getting back to fighting for victories and the championship.”
He is currently standing at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 10 points. Moreover, he is 3 points ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India and 5 points behind Bruno Senna of Williams.
It will be important to mention that there have been many discussions about Massa’s replacement in the Scarlet team with Sergio Perez of Sauber-Ferrari who secured an incredible second podium finish in the second race at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Nevertheless, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali dismissed all the speculations and said that they are ready to provide Massa with everything which he may need in order to improve his performance in the season ahead.
Over and above, they are trying their best to make the necessary preparations and the significant developments so as to enhance the pace of their car for the races ahead to make their position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
