Felipe Massa angry with his performance in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is feeling angry with his performance in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
Massa set off from 6th grid position in the last race and showed some striking pace during the early laps when he overtook Nico Rosberg of Mercedes. However, he lost the rear wing of his car on turn 1 due to which he dropped to 12th position. Nevertheless,
he still managed to secure 10th place finish towards the end of the race.
“I am angry with myself for mistake at Turn 1,” Massa said. “I lost touch with quickest group and then my tyres were vibrating too much, which meant I had to pit early. Then I tried to extend next stint of race as much as possible, even hoping not to stop
again. Unfortunately, towards end, I did have to make second stop, because they were almost down to canvas.”
He added, “I am disappointed, because we showed we were competitive with our main rivals: now we are there, fighting with them, which was not case just a few races ago”.
Even so, the Brazilian driver said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races as he believes they have got the potential to fight for the championship title.
Besides, he is currently at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 11 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India and behind Bruno Senna of Williams.
It will be important to mention that he took a struggling start this year as he could only score 2 points in the first five races. Nonetheless, he came back well in the sixth race at Circuit de Monaco in which he secured 6th place finish after starting from
7th grid position.
On the other hand, his teammate, Fernando Alonso came 5th in the last race and is presently standing at 2nd place in the drivers’ rankings with 86 points. In addition, the Spaniard is 2 points behind Lewis Hamilton and just 1 point ahead of the defending
champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Above and beyond, the Italian team is working at its best to make the essential preparations to win this season’s championship battle.
