Felipe Massa at a crucial point of his career – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa will be gearing up for a career make or break second of the 2012 season.
The season has been very cruel to the Brazilian the performances he has had so far have not entirely been his fault for the poor results he has had as the car had a lot of issues earlier in the season. Massa however has not been able to make the most of
an improved Ferrari like his team-mate Fernando Alonso did and that has hurt him the most in terms of how Ferrari look at him for the future.
Massa has still not been able to improve his performances and it has became clearer that the team will now look to replace him for 2013 if he does not come up with some brilliant results.
The Brazilian believes that he still has a chance if he can come up with good performances he might be able to save his race seat with the team. Team principal Stefano Domenicali has said that Massa may still have an outside chance. The statement only came
after Ferrari’s Mark Webber deal did not go to plan, the Aussie was in-line to replace Massa but decided to stick with his current team Red Bull leaving the Ferrari management out of suitable options for the moment.
It is unlikely though that Massa will be able to retain his race seat his career future looms over his head as leaving Ferrari will mean he might not be able to get a competitive race seat for 2013.
The summer break will have given the Brazilian enough time to rethink his shortcomings and focus on what he can do best. The only hope that Massa has left is to help his team-mate and the current leader of the drivers’ standings to a title win while scoring
enough points to help the team battle it out for the top spot in the constructors’ championship.
It will be interesting to see how the Brazilian fares at the Belgian Grand Prix. Spa has been a good track for him and he will hope to regain his lost virility.
