Felipe Massa believes Fernando Alonso will back him in title chase – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa believes that his teammate, Fernando Alonso will surely help him, if he is in the title fight.
Massa struggled a lot during the start of 2012 and failed to score competitive points for his team. Furthermore, he faced immense criticism over his poor driving style and was even surrounded by many speculations that he might be replaced by any other driver
at the end of the last year.
However, Ferrari team principal, Stefano Domenicali showed full support for Massa and asserted that they will provide everything to their driver in order to help him perform better.
Fortunately, after the last year’s Mugello test, the Brazilian driver strike back really well and managed to score impressive points for his team. Besides, he also helped Alonso in a couple of races in securing podium finishes.
The 31-year-old has said that they work in Ferrari as a team and will always support each other in any kind of situation. In addition, he said that he and his teammate work with great harmony.
“I can't imagine a team not wanting two competitive drivers,” Massa said. “We are fighting for two titles and I am sure the team will help me if it turns out that my situation was the same as the one that meant Fernando was a contender these past years.
I remember when Kimi [Raikkonen] was my team-mate and how much we helped one another from one season to the next. It's the same with Fernando, it's team work, while the harmony between us is a help, as it would be in any job.”
Additionally, he said that Red Bull Racing and McLaren will be their main competitors in the 2013 Formula 1 season and they are planning to come up stronger in order to compete well with their rivals.
It will be important to mention that although the Spaniard performed exceptionally well during the last season. But, he still lost the championship by just three points to Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull because of his uncompetitive car. Let’s see whether the
Scarlet team will be able to develop a competent car for this season or not.
