Felipe Massa expecting positive race weekend at Silverstone on soft and hard compounds – Formula 1
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is expecting a positive race at the Silverstone race track on both the soft and hard compounds.
He is hopeful that the new Pirelli tyres will provide him an easy run in the upcoming British Grand Prix, which will take place on Sunday, July 10, 2011.
The Brazilian has still been unable to finish his race on the podium in the 2011 Formula 1 season. He blamed the tyres for his disappointing performance at the start of the season. Massa also said that his car’s pace has not been good enough to compete with
the strong contenders.
Apart from that, the team driver discussed the last couple of races of Ferrari. He admitted that the previous races results have encouraged them a lot for the upcoming race weekends.
The Maranello-based outfit driver also talked about the early races of the season and mentioned that they had a good time on the Pirelli tyres which were used in the initial part of the ongoing 2011 season. However, he said that they struggled a lot on the
hard compounds especially during the Spanish Grand Prix.
He said, “It’s true we struggled a bit on the Hards, it is equally true that the car has improved since then. Being on the pace at Silverstone would be a good sign and would confirm that we have been working in the right direction over the past two months.”
Massa is moving in the right direction for the team since the last couple of races. He further added that he can win for the team, if they provide him with a perfect car.
The 30-year-old driver said, “The tyres work well and there are no problems with them. It is the same for everyone: we know that some compounds are better suited than others to our car, but it’s down to us to make them work as well as possible, working on
set-up and aerodynamics.”
He talked about the season and added that the 2011 season has become more interesting as it is moving towards more challenging races.
After a good race weekend in Valencia recently, Ferrari are hoping for another successful race at Silverstone.
