Felipe Massa eyes podium in the season ahead – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is confidently targeting to show his best performance in the season ahead and is aiming to secure a podium finish in the second half after the summer smash.
Massa has been facing difficulties in the finding his true pace in the first eleven races and has only been able to score 25 points. At present, he is standing at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 25 points. Moreover, he is ahead of
Bruno Senna of Williams and is behind Paul di Resta of Force India.
Furthermore, he has only been able to score points in five races in the first half of the season out of which his best performance include his fourth place finish in British GP and his 6th position in the Monaco GP. Other than that, he struggled
with his race pace and could not pocket even a single point.
Nevertheless, his hopes are high and he is targeting to attain competitive results in remaining grands prix after the August break.
The Brazilian driver said that he is very keen to secure a podium finish in the races ahead so as to score some reasonable points for his team.
“It's being discussed, but there's no hurry to decide, nor to say anything,” said Massa. “The important thing for me is to fight for the podium, even if my team-mate is ahead of me in the classification.”
In addition, he said that he will try his best to support his teammate, Fernando Alonso who is leading the drivers’ standings with 164 points. Over and above, he said that he is very grateful to his team for all their love and support and is hoping to perform
well in the upcoming races.
“For me, the priority is always to try and finish in the top three, but if in a race, Fernando is ahead of me, given his position, I will try and help him all same. At the moment, I am concentrating completely on upcoming races,” he said. “Thanks to a great
job from team, performance has clearly improved and I feel very motivated to do well.”
