Felipe Massa feels confident after 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa says that he is feeling confident for the season ahead after 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Massa had been seen struggling with finding his pace in the first five races. However, he expressed that he feels positive for the approaching season after showing quite convincing performance during the last race in Monte Carlo in which he secured 6th position
after qualifying for 7th grid position.
“I definitely feel more confident now,” Massa said. “I feel stronger as well and it's also true that if Monaco was a good race, I was not that happy because, after work I had done right from first practice, I had expected to be fighting for a podium finish.
We had a chance of doing that, we had a good enough pace. It was very good compared to start of season, but we cannot be satisfied and now I want us to work hard to get something more. If we find the right direction, I know what I can do.”
The Brazilian driver is currently standing at 14th position in the drivers’ championship with 10 points. Additionally, he is 3 points ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India and 5 points behind Bruno Senna of Williams.
In addition, he said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in 2012 Canadian GP which is to be held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
It will be important to mention that there have been a lot of speculations regarding Massa’s replacement with Sergio Perez in the Scarlet team after the Mexican driver secured an impressive second podium finish in the second race at Sepang International
Circuit in Malaysia on wet track.
Nevertheless, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali dismissed all the rumours and said that they are ready to provide Massa with everything which he may need in order to improve his performance in the forthcoming races.
Over and above, he said that they are trying their best to make the significant developments and the essential preparations to improve the pace of their car so as to fight for the championship title this year.
