Felipe Massa feels confident that he will secure a race seat with Ferrari in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa is feeling confident that he will be able to secure a race seat with his current team in the next year.
Massa has been seen struggling with finding his full potential in the current season and has only been able to score 25 points. Meanwhile, there have been many speculations that his race seat is unconfirmed as the Scarlet team is looking for his replacement.
However, he is not disappointed and is positive that he will be able to race with the Italian team in the next season. Moreover, he said that he is aiming to improve his performance in the forthcoming races so as to make his mark stronger in the championship
fight.
“I'm confident,” Massa was quoted as saying by Associated Press after an FIA road safety seminar. “Even though the results have not been good, performances were better. Now we need to have a clean race so the result can be positive in the end.”
In addition, he said that eventually it is the overall performance of the driver which matters for the team the most regarding its decision to keep him or leave him. He also said that it is very much important for the driver to prepare himself for all kinds
of circumstances.
Furthermore, he said that it is extremely important for him to perform well in the second half of the current season as he believes that it will be the only factor which will decide his future in Ferrari.
He added: “In the end the result is what matters the most. That's what's crucial for every driver. I'll need to stay prepared and finish the races well to try to have better results in the second half of the year.”
Over and above, he said that it is useless to talk about his future at the moment as the real decision will be made at the conclusion of the season.
“The discussions began a long time ago,” he said. “But until there is a deal finalised, nothing changes.”
