Felipe Massa feels happy after Friday practice in China – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is feeling very happy after the Friday practice of the 2013 Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai International Circuit.
Massa showed an incredible pace in the second practice session and topped the timesheets with 1 minute and 35.340 seconds. On the other hand, his teammate, Fernando
Alonso came third in the charts with his best time of 1 minute and 35.755 seconds.
The Brazilian driver expressed that he was a little worried about his pace on medium compound tyres in the beginning of the practice session. Nonetheless, he said
that he noticed a considerable improvement in his pace on soft compound tyres on which he set the quickest time on the day.
“Today, I immediately had a good feeling in the car and even if at the start I was not completely happy with the performance of the Medium compound and we were
not as quick as our rivals, the times were good all the same,” Massa said. “When I fitted the Softs, the car improved a lot and this meant I was able to set the fastest time of the day. It was impressive, like driving two completely different cars.”
He also said that they have managed to get some valuable information about the updates in their car which can surely be used to make further developments.
It will be important to mention that the 31-year-old has performed amazingly well in the first two races of the season as compared to preceding year in which he
struggled a lot during the start. He secured an impressive fourth place finish in the season opener at Albert Park and later came fifth in the Malaysian GP after qualifying for second grid position.
Besides, he has said that his aim is to score competitive points with consistency throughout the year for which he is working very hard. In addition, he asserted
that they are moving in the right direction and he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the third race of the season.
“I feel confident and hope that the whole weekend can keep moving in this direction,” he added.
