Felipe Massa furious at Lewis Hamilton for spoiling his run at 2011 Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1
Felipe Massa of Ferrari is again furious at Lewis Hamilton of McLaren for spoiling his run at the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, October 9 at Suzuka.
In the recently held Singapore race at the Marina Bay circuit, both Massa and Hamilton were involved in a similar situation where the latter had to face a heated response from the Ferrari driver who accused the Brit of “not using his mind” and damaging his
race.
Massa later put an end to the entire issue which he felt was just being dragged on unnecessarily, stating that he has no intention to take the matter any further with Hamilton. Massa said that Hamilton received a penalty for his tactics in Singapore which
was enough.
On Sunday, at the Japanese Grand Prix, the Brit from McLaren and Massa again ended up in a collision.
Massa on this occasion said, “The only thing I care about is what he did. He was so slow in 130R and he stayed on the right-hand side. I was much quicker, I went to the left-hand side and I braked there. I stayed on my line; he moved his car and touched
my car. There's nothing more to say. For what he says, I don't care. I care about what the federation says and what the FIA does.”
Hamilton has been accused of his reckless driving repeatedly for which he has received much criticism from the stewards and drivers. The Brit however says that this is his style and he loves taking risks. He considers taking risks as the only way to success
in Formula 1.
He has been given five drive-through penalties in the ongoing 2011 Formula 1 season for his on-track accidents.
Although, the stewards did not penalise Hamilton at Suzuka, but Massa thinks he was at fault and wants the International Automobile Federation (FIA) to take up this matter.
Hamilton, clearing his position said that he was not to be blamed as he could hardly see Massa coming from his mirrors but the Ferrari driver is not willing to buy this and has called for the FIA to decide and take appropriate action.
Massa said, “They have penalised people for much less this year and this time they didn't do it. It's the second time in a row after the problem in qualifying as well in the last race, and after what happened yesterday.”
Although the race stewards did not take any action against Hamilton during the Japanese Grand Prix, yet let’s see if the FIA does something about it in the days to come.
