Felipe Massa has the best Friday of 2012 Formula 1 season in Montreal – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa feels happy with the updates in F2012 after free Friday practice of 2012 Canadian Grand Prix held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
Massa came third on the timesheets in FP2 with his fastest time of 1 minute and 15.410 seconds and covered 39 laps. Moreover, he followed his teammate, Fernando Alonso and stayed ahead of the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
The Brazilian driver is standing at 14th place in the drivers’ championship with 10 points. Besides, he is 3 points ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India and 5 points behind Bruno Senna of Williams.
Although, he took a struggling start to this season and faced immense criticism as he could only score 2 points in the first five grands prix. Nevertheless, he managed to perform quite convincingly in the Monaco GP at Circuit de Monaco as he secured 6th place
finish after qualifying for 7th grid position which has boosted up his confidence for the season ahead.
Furthermore, he expressed that he is very much pleased with the performance of his car as he set the third best time in FP2. In addition, he said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the qualifying of the approaching race so as to secure
a competitive grid position in order to attain good results.
“I think we can be happy with the fact that the updates we have brought here worked, even if it's hard to give an instant assessment of how much of an improvement they have produced,” he said. “The car seems to be well balanced and it seemed to me to be
pretty consistent in terms of performance, even if, obviously, the track is not yet providing much grip, this being the first day of the race weekend. To sum up, this has been the best Friday of 2012: let's hope that can continue through Saturday and Sunday
as well!”
Over and above, he said that they have managed to gather some crucial information during the practice sessions which will definitely provide great help for making the future advancements.
