Felipe Massa hopeful of better show in upcoming races – Formula 1 news
Felipe Massa is confident that Ferrari will be a lot stronger in the upcoming races of the 2013 Formula 1 season and will be able to catch up with rivals Red Bull, who seem to be getting away with the championship at this stage.
Over the past couple of events, the Italian squad has been unable to deliver the expected results, especially in qualifying, which has hurt them badly.
However, they are now headed to Great Britain, where the track characteristics will definitely work in their favour.
According to Massa, “I think Silverstone can be a bit better for us. The car was very strong in Barcelona and in China. Montreal was a completely different track compared to where next we are going -- to Silverstone and Nurburgring, where you have a lot
of lateral corners. There are a lot of medium and high-speed corners, so we will see.”
At the moment, it seems that Ferrari lack traction, which is why they have been suffering on low-speed race tracks. On the other hand, the car has not been good enough in wet conditions, which is why both Fernando Alonso and Massa struggled to make an impression
in a damp qualifying session in Canada.
Therefore, the Maranello based squad will be hoping that rain does not come into play in the upcoming events. If that happens, their rivals will definitely be at an advantage and will continue extending the lead in the championship.
Out of the two Ferrari drivers, Massa has been the one hit with more bad luck. He said, “I'm not very happy for what's happened to me recently - in Bahrain for the tyre, Monaco for the two crashes and in Canada with qualifying. So definitely I want to get
to the next race with a lot of luck - good luck!”
The Brazilian driver had a very good start to the current season and it appeared that he would give a tough time to his team-mate and other drivers on the grid. However, his form faded away after the first few races, which is not a good sign at all. He will
need some solid results in the upcoming events otherwise his seat in Ferrari might come under threat.
