Felipe Massa hopes Ferrari will be competitive throughout 2011 Indian race weekend – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that after being on top in the Friday practice session 2 of the Indian Grand Prix, he can hope they will be competitive throughout the Indian race weekend.
Massa added that his car was good during the both FP1 and FP2 in India. After the successful FP2, he is expecting strong weekend for Ferrari.
The Brazilian topped the Friday Practice session 2 after running on the sets of soft and hard tyres by Pirelli. He set the fastest time of 1 minute and 25.706 seconds in the afternoon session and ended his run ahead of Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel.
After the FP2, the team driver talked to the media and commented, “For sure I think maybe the hard tyre is too hard for this track. It was really possible to drive the same tyres as the last race here because the asphalt is so smooth and the degradation
is much lower than expected.”
He went on to mention, “We saw that in Korea when we had soft and super soft there. Everyone was scared but it was fine as it was the right choice and here, looking at the asphalt, it is not so different so for me it was not the right direction to bring
the hard.”
Apart from that, he discussed the Buddh International Circuit and added that the new track was very dirty off line and that it was very difficult with a lot of sand outside of the line but despite that, it is a nice circuit.
The Maranello-based outfit driver further added that he is sure the car was good and competitive in first two practice sessions and that he thinks they did good laps during that.
Other than that, he mentioned that they will see in the qualifying round on Saturday, October 29 that how their rivals including Red Bull and McLaren will run in terms of fuel and other settings.
His teammate Fernando Alonso did not take a good start to the Indian race weekend, as he finished his FP1 at the back of the field. He came at the third position for Ferrari in the final FP2 classifications after running at the Buddh International Circuit.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage the FP3, qualifying round and the raceday.
