Felipe Massa hopes to attain competitive result in 2013 Spanish GP – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is hoping to attain competitive result in the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix which is going to be held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona on May 12.
Massa took a great start to this season as compared to the preceding one. He secured an incredible fourth place finish in the season opener at Albert Park in Melbourne. Later, he performed inspiringly well in the Malaysian GP and managed to secure fifth
place finish after taking a start from 10th grid slot. Afterwards, in the Chinese GP, he came 6th after setting off from 8th grid position. However, in the last race at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, he failed
to score even a single point even after qualifying for 4th grid slot.
Despite facing a disappointment in the Bahrain GP, the Brazilian driver is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming race. He has expressed that the track of the next race is quite complex and technical, therefore it requires more aerodynamic
downforce.
“I've always liked both the feel of Barcelona itself and the atmosphere at the track during the race weekend,” Massa said. “The Circuit de Catalunya is the track that we know best thanks to all the tests that we do there at the start of the year: it's a
complex, technical track where it's important to have good aerodynamic downforce.”
Besides, he said that his victory in Barcelona back in 2007 is one of his most memorable wins which he secured after a tough battle with his rivals.
“My best memory from Barcelona came in 2007 when I won the race,” he said.
In addition, he asserted that although he is not happy with his performance in the last race, but he is not feeling upset and is confidently eying to strike back in the approaching race. He also said that he is aiming to fight for the top positions in the
next race.
“Obviously I'm not happy with my last race in Bahrain and so I hope to be able to get back to fighting for the top places this weekend." he added.
