Felipe Massa hopes to have a normal race at 2012 Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa hopes to have a normal race at 2012 Chinese Grand Prix which is to be held at Shanghai International Circuit on this weekend after struggling first two races in this year.
“I really hope I can have a normal Grand Prix without problems, right from Friday: that is fundamental to being able to finally get a good result,” Massa wrote on the Ferrari website.
The Brazilian driver has not been able to score even a single point after the opening two races of the season held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
On the other hand, Massa’s teammate Fernando Alonso is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 35 points after his incredible victory at Sepang and an impressive fifth place finish in the season opener.
Moreover, Massa said that he did not expect any major step forward by the Scarlet team for the third GP. However, he said that they will try to bring out the best in them for the races ahead.
“I know it won't be easy, also because I don't think we can expect any major new elements, at least in the short term. We will have to try and squeeze every last drop out of what we have, as Fernando has managed to do in both Australia and Malaysia,” said
Massa.
It will be important to mention that there have been a lot of discussions regarding Massa’s replacement with Sergio Perez of Sauber-Ferrari who secured an amazing second podium finish in the second race.
Nonetheless, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali said that they are ready to provide the Brazilian driver with everything which he would need to improve his performance in the upcoming races. Additionally, Perez also expressed his commitment
with his own team for this season.
In addition, Massa also changed his plan of going to see his family in Brazil after the second GP and headed towards the team’s factory in Maranello so as to identify his mistakes in the first two races and to make the necessary rectifications in order to
improve his performance for the upcoming races.
