Felipe Massa hopes to perform well in second half of 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa has said that he is hoping to perform well in the second half of the 2012 Formula 1 season after struggling during the start.
Massa is currently surrounded by many rumours that the Scarlet team may replace him with Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus in the next season. However, the team principal of the Enstone based team, Eric Boullier said that they don’t know whether the Finnish driver
will leave or not.
Meanwhile, the team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali discharged all the ongoing speculations and said that they don’t have any such plans at present to sign the Finnish driver for the next year. He also said that they are ready to help their belligerent
driver in each and every area in order to improve his performance in the forthcoming races.
Even though, Massa said that he still doesn’t know whether he will stay at the Italian team or not in the next season. Nevertheless, he said that he is not paying attention to his future contract and expressed that he is aiming to deliver his best in the
season ahead so as to make his mark stronger in this year’s championship battle.
“This first part of the season has definitely not been very positive for me, although I certainly feel better than at the start and I'm sure the second half will be better,” the 31-year-old said. “My contract? Until the situation is clear, there's nothing
to say! I'm concentrating on doing well in the next races and that is my number one aim.”
Presently, he is standing at 14th position in the drivers’ championship with 25 points. Additionally, he is just 1 one point ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams and is 2 points behind Paul di Resta of Force India.
Although, he has faced difficulties with finding his pace in most of the races in the season so far, nonetheless, he has shown some convincing performances too which include his sixth and fourth place finishes in Monaco and British grands prix.
