Felipe Massa hopes to stay at Ferrari beyond 2012 Formula 1 season – Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa is feeling hopeful that he can manage to stay at his current team beyond the 2012 Formula 1 season if he keeps on pushing hard for improvements.
Massa’s contract with the Scarlet team is going to expire at the end of the current season and it has been reported that the Brazilian driver may be replaced by Sergio Perez of Sauber or Paul di Resta of Force India as he is not delivering the expected results.
Nevertheless, he said that he is trying his best to fulfil the expectations of his team in order to continue driving behind the wheel of F2012 in the next season. Moreover, he said that if he keeps on working hard to improve his pace to attain better results,
he can secure his race seat with the Italian team for the future.
“I think if we keep working like that and keep improving the car and working, I don't see a reason why I cannot be here,” he is quoted as saying by Autosport.
In addition, he said that he has established a very sound relationship with his team and he will love to pursue his career with Ferrari.
Furthermore, he said that he has gained a lot of confidence after the British GP held at Silverstone Circuit in which he secured fourth place finish after taking a start from fifth grid slot which is his best performance in the season until now.
“I feel much more comfortable, and driving in the direction that I like,” said the Brazilian driver. “I feel there is a lot more to come.”
Additionally, he said that he is targeting to score reasonable points in the forthcoming races to improve his rankings in the drivers’ championship.
Over and above, he said that they need to make the significant advancements and the considerable preparations for the approaching races to win the championship title.
“This is the direction we need to keep working; to improve the situation every race and to make a different Championship for myself from now until the end of the season,” he said.
